Berechnet wird anhand einer Formel das wahrscheinliche Ergebnis der jeweiligen Abstimmung. Dabei wird - grob formuliert - davon ausgegangen, dass sich ein Trend, der anhand der 1. und 2. Umfragewelle bereits erkennbar ist (1. Welle ca. 1 Monat, 2. Welle 10 Tage vor dem eigentlichen Urnengang), bis zum Wahltag (abgeschwächt) fortsetzt und sich nicht gravierend verändert geschweige denn umkehrt. Es werden die Einschätzungen ausgewählter, schweizer Anbieter aus dem Bereich Umfragen sowie Experten zu einer neuen Prognose zusammengeführt. Die Formel ist seit Anfang 2024 fix und unverändert. - Die (u.U. nur vorläufige) Prognose erfolgt 10 Tage vor der Wahl, die finale Prognose am Tag vor der Abstimmung.
